Alice Rosi, Assistant Professor in Human Nutrition at the Department of Food & Drugs of the University of Parma, attended the 14th European Nutrition Conference (FENS 2023) that took place in Belgrade, Serbia, from 14th – 17th of November.
During the session “Nutrition across the lifecourse”, Alice Rosi presented an oral communication entitled “Multicenter randomized controlled trial to tackle obesity through a Mediterranean Diet vs. a low-fat diet in children and adolescents: preliminary results from the MED4Youth study”.
The presentation introduced some of the main preliminary results of the project’s study, which indicates that a dietary intervention based on the Mediterranean Diet did not produce any additional benefits over anthropometric parameters and dietary habits compared to the control group, but it is not less effective than the conventional clinical treatment based on a reduction of fat intake.
The European Nutrition Conference, organised by the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS), offered a programme containing keynote lectures, symposia, educational workshops, interactive sessions, poster presentations, and meet-the-industry sessions of interest for both students and young nutrition professionals.
